President & CEO, Director
Mr. Paspalas joined MAG October 2013. Formerly Mr. Paspalas was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Aurizon Mines; Chief Operating Officer, Silver Standard Resources Inc., and President and Chief Executive Officer of Placer Dome Africa among many operational and project development roles with Placer Dome. During his career, Mr. Paspalas has been responsible for constructing and operating complex open pit and underground mines in South Africa, Tanzania, Australia, South America and Canada. Mr. Paspalas earned a Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical) degree with Honours from the University of New South Wales in 1984. Mr. Paspalas is also an independent Director of Pretivm Resources Inc. Mr. Paspalas is also an CGIC / ICSA Accredited Director.
Mr. Taddei obtained his Chartered Accountant designation in 1990 and has held senior finance roles in the natural resource sector for the past 28 years. He joined MAG in March 2010, prior to which he was the CFO of West Timmins Mining Inc. up until its business combination with Lake Shore Gold Corp., a transaction valued at over $420 million. Previous to that, he held the position of CFO with a Vancouver-based precious metals producer with operations in South America, where he was instrumental in the completion of both debt and equity financings and oversaw the transition of the Company from an explorer to a producer. Mr. Taddei also holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia. Mr. Taddei is also an CGIC / ICSA Accredited Director.
Dr. Peter Megaw
Chief Exploration Officer (CXO)
Dr. Peter Megaw, C.P.G., has a Ph.D. in geology from the University of Arizona and more than 30 years of relevant experience focused on silver and gold exploration in Mexico. He is a certified Professional Geologist by the American Institute of Professional Geologists and an Arizona Registered geologist. Dr. Megaw has been instrumental in a number of mineral discoveries in Mexico including new ore bodies at existing mines, Excellon Resources’ Platosa Mine, and MAG Silver’s Juanicipio and Cinco de Mayo Properties; discoveries for which he was given PDAC’s 2016 Thayer Lindsley Award. Peter is the author of numerous scientific publications on ore deposits and is a frequent speaker at academic and international exploration and mineralogical conferences.
Vice President, Investor Relations and Communications
Mr. Curlook is currently the Vice President of Investor Relations and Communications at MAG Silver Corp. He was born in Sudbury, ON and represents a third generation in the mining industry, attended the University of Western Ontario for Business Administration and recently received his CPIR designation and his ACC.DIR. He has extensive experience in investor relations, business development, sales & marketing, in senior positions at private and diversified public companies, with a particular focus on mining. His productivity emphasis has been; initiating and cultivating institutional relationships, speaking at conferences, numerous equity financings, developing/revamping IR programs to best practices conformity, and communicating with the research, investment banking, sales and broker communities. Previously, he was Head of Investor Relations and Communications at Great Basin Gold Ltd, Manager of Investor Relations of Farallon Mining/Hunter Dickinson Inc. Mr. Curlook is also an CGIC / ICSA Accredited Director.
Vice President, Business Development
Mr. Turcotte has over a decade of experience working in the natural resource sector in various capacities. These experiences include; trading and negotiating long-term sale contracts, asset evaluations, mergers & acquisitions, joint-ventures and optimizing and integrating acquired assets. Before joining MAG in September 2015 as Vice President of Business Development, Mr. Turcotte was the Director of Corporate Development for Hecla Mining Company and previously the Director of Corporate Development for Aurizon Mines Ltd. Mr. Turcotte received his Bachelor of Science in Resource Economics (Honors) from the University of British Columbia and MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business.
Manager, Corporate Social Responsibility
Ms. Jenkins is MAG’s Manager of Corporate Social Responsibility, responsible for overseeing the Company’s sustainability efforts. Prior to joining MAG, she worked for a Canadian base-metals company in investor relations and for two major Canadian financial institutions in investment banking and portfolio management. Ms. Jenkins holds a Master of Resource Management degree (first class honors with distinction) from the University of Akureyri (Iceland) and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Calgary. She has presented at several academic conferences on the subject of corporate social responsibility in the petroleum sector.
Mr. Hansen brings 15 years geological expertise to MAG with a focus primarily on interpretation, modelling, geochemistry, QAQC, and resource estimations. He is also responsible for project management and is a key member of the new projects evaluation team. Mr. Hansen graduated with a Masters’ Degree in Geological Sciences from The University of British Columbia following a Bachelor of Science Degree specializing in Geology at The University of Alberta. He is a registered Professional Geologist (P.Geo) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (formerly APEGBC), is a member of the Geological Association of Canada (GAC) and the Society of Economic Geologists (SEG) and is a Qualified Person (QP) for the Company. Prior to MAG, he worked as a field geologist for several Vancouver-based Junior exploration companies on a variety of projects throughout North America.
Ms. Lapiz joined MAG in March 2006 and was promoted to Controller in 2012. She is a CPA, CGA, responsible for the Company’s financial reporting, tax compliance, corporate accounting and corporate internal controls. Previously she held various financial and accounting roles in investment management, mining and manufacturing industries. She graduated cum laude from Ateneo de Davao University in the Philippines with a business degree in Accounting.
Ms. Neff brings over 16 years of corporate secretarial, corporate governance and securities regulatory experience to MAG, where 12 of those years focused on public companies within the mining industry. Most recently, Ms. Neff served as Corporate Secretary of Sierra Metals Inc., a position which she held since 2013. Prior to that, she was Corporate Secretary for a number of other publicly listed companies, including WPC Resources Inc. (now Blue Star Gold Corp.) and TTM Resources Inc. Ms. Neff completed the Paralegal Diploma Program at Capilano University in 2004 and began her career as a Securities Paralegal in national law firms including Borden Ladner Gervais LLP and Goodmans LLP.
